Michael Groncki

Software Engineer
Automation and more

Since I finished my studies in telecommunications engineering at the Technical University of Cologne (formerly Cologne University of Applied Sciences), I have worked in different fields of mechanical and plant engineering such as radiation measurement, non-destructive materials testing, polyurethane technology, vacuum metallurgy, and heat treatment of metals, in development and design, as well as in service and commissioning.

Since 1999 I have been working as a software engineer in special plant engineering, particularly in the design of industrial furnaces. My tasks include, inter alia, designing complex plant control systems, developing control and visualization software, and commissioning plants within and outside Germany.

It had always been my dream, which I have now fulfiled, to acquire a university degree. In October 2010 I gained admission to the University of Hagen to study for a master's degree in electrical engineering and information technology in the School of Mathematics and Information Science with a specialization in mechatronics. I successfully completed the course in September 2013 with the grade "excellent".

In the last 10 years, the task of working as a software engineer has changed continuously. The different areas are merging more and more, so that one is always confronted with new tasks. One rarely has to deal with a pure automation task, since global networking and other technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning or blockchain open up new possibilities that always present the software engineer with new challenges.

You only grow by being challenged. That's why I'm always looking forward to new challenges and problems that are worth solving.
